SUNDAY 25TH JUNE 2017

Kitty Macfarlane is a Somerset-based singer and songwriter.   Her lyrics combine honest snapshots of everyday humanity with the bigger questions that have connected minds and voices for centuries, driven by her own fingerpicked guitar. Her debut EP Tide & Time – features some Froize favourites: Sam Kelly (co-producer), Jamie Francis and Ciaran Algar, so we know it will be brilliant. Can’t wait to introduce Kitty to the audience at Folk at the Froize.

With support from Charlie Law

AND AFTER THAT WE’VE GOT …

SUNDAY 30TH JULY 2017

From singer/songwriter Matthew Lowe (Keston Cobblers’ Club) and Daniel Rymer Trenholme (The Lost Cavalry) comes their new project Stables. The Alt-Folk duo put on a dynamic live show with emphasis on energy, both playing multiple instruments to create a full soundscape … if you close your eyes, you’ll almost think there’s a full band on the stage.

SUNDAY 27TH AUGUST 2017

Tannara converge from across the country, to entangle within Scotland’s rich web of traditions. Raw energy coupled with a booming set of tunes, interspersed with moments of knot-in-stomach beauty. This electrifying live act play contemporary Scottish folk music with their own unique flavour. They were nominated for the “Up and Coming Artist of the Year” award at the 2016 Scots Trad Music Awards. Don’t forget your dancing shoes – if its a warm evening, we might just venture out into the garden.

SUNDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2017

Chester’s Greg Russell (who some of you may have seen perform with Ciaran Algar back in early 2016) and Shepley’s, Jack Rutter (of Moore Moss and Rutter fame who played the Froize back in January 2017) will be coming together up on this fantasic double headline tour and we are lucky enough to have secured them for Folk at the Froize. More information to come …

SUNDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2017

Lucy Ward is an award winning singer-songwriter from Derby. She plays guitar, ukulele and concertina but considers her voice to be her first instrument. After winning the Horizon Award for best newcomer at the 2012 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Lucy’s career has gone from strength to strength establishing her as one of the hottest performers on the UK Folk scene, pulling a full capacity audience for her Cambridge Folk Festival debut. So get your tickets quick and lets give Lucy a full house at the Froize too.

SUNDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2017

Jim Moray has been a popular name on the folk scene over the last decade, both as a solo artist, and in his recent collaboration with Sam Carter to form the band ‘False Lights’ (who you may have seen at FolkEast in 2015). He has also worked with Andy Cutting, Patsy Reid, Martin Simpson and Nancy Kerr among others.  His lastest release ‘Upcetera’ sees Jim’s supple soaring vocal leading the listener by the hand through strange old stories. We can’t wait to hear them live on the Froize stage. Book early folks! It’s going to be a special one.

SUNDAY 17TH DECEMBER 2017

Froize favourite, Ange Hardy returns for this Christmas special. For those of you who didn’t catch Ange in June 2016, she is an award winning singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Somerset, who performs with a 27-string Salvi Harp, three different guitars, a variety of low whistles, a bodhrán drum, a tambourine, and an Indian shruti box. Combined with her innovative and subtle use of live looping to build layers up vocal harmonies she’s one of the most diverse solo-artists you’re likely to encounter.
