Sunday 17th December

Ange Hardy 

Returning to the Froize for a Christmas special. For those of you who didn’t catch Ange in June 2016, she is an award winning singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Somerset, who performs with a 27-string Salvi Harp, three different guitars, a variety of low whistles, a bodhrán drum, a tambourine, and an Indian shruti box. Combined with her innovative and subtle use of live looping to build layers up vocal harmonies she’s one of the most diverse solo-artists you’re likely to encounter.

Steve Tilston 

A celebrated songsmith in Britain and abroad, winning accolades in Europe, Australia and the USA. Widely recognised within the world of folk music for his words, arrangements and subtle, quite superb guitar playing.

Support will be from The Shackleton Trio (formerly The Georgia Shackleton Trio) who play an exciting blend of Americana, folk and self-penned material. Accompanying herself on the fiddle, Georgia writes and performs ‘wordy songs about other people’, instrumentally influenced by British, American and Scandinavian folk traditions, with a regional twist from her native East Anglia.

Blue Rose Code

Edinburgh-born Ross Wilson passionate about that fusion of folk and jazz and where it intersects with songwriting. Blue Rose Code is one of those rare artists whose work makes you sit up and listen – Mary-Anne Kennedy, BBC Radio 3.

Jackie Oates

A singer and fiddle player hailing from Staffordshire. Her unique treatment of english ballads and songs, and pure, haunting singing style has established her at the forefront of the new English folk revival.

Sunday 25th March

Jimmy Aldridge and Sid Goldsmith 

A highly acclaimed duo who play traditional and original music of the British Isles. With a common thread of political struggle, resistance, and justice the songs feature sensitive musical arrangements and stunning vocals.

Sunday 29th April

Molly Evans Trio

A lively young singer from Cheshire with a largely traditional repertoire, known for her strong voice and distinctive song settings. Sharing the stage will be Jack Rutter and Archie Churchill-Moss (Moore Moss Rutter).

Sunday 27th May


A rare line-up of two nightingales from Estonia and two Flemish brothers from Belgium. Featuring Estonian pipes, fiddle, accordion, guitar and stunning vocals, Estbel unites traditionalists and indie-lovers, the young and the elderly.

Kim Lowings & The Greenwood 

With the motivation to keep the tradition alive and to share their own tales, this energetic, multi-instrumentalis band delivers a blend of original compositions and traditional songs with a contemporary twist.

The Hut People

Taking the audience on a musical journey around the World, this English instrumental duo have firmly established themselves as one of THE most unique, entertaining and best-loved acts on the UK folk scene today.

Sunday 26th August


Returning to the Froize in 2018 with their finely textured arrangements, this exciting Belgian 5 piece injects new energy and shines an inventive spotlight onto 18th-century tunes from the Flanders region of Belgium.

This event is likely to be outdoors so please come prepared.

Harri Endersby

Blurring the lines of folk from acoustic to electronics, Harri, joined by husband Rich on guitar and percussion, draws inspiration from the rugged landscape of County Durham, as well as contemporary and traditional folk music.

Sunday 28th October

Claire Hastings

A folksinger/songwriter originally from Dumfries. In 2015 Claire won the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year award which boosted her into the spotlight. In 2018 she will release her new album.

Sunday 25th November

Gilmore & Roberts

Katriona Gilmore (fiddle, mandolin) and Jamie Roberts (guitar) return to the Froize for the first time since their October 2016 debut. This dynamic duo combine award-winning songwriting with astounding musicianship.

Sunday 16th December

Rachael McShane Band

Rachael is a cellist, fiddle player and singer based in the North East of England best known as an original member of folk big band Bellowhead. We welcome her to the Froize for a Christmas special.
